Part Time Lecturer – Department of Wood Science (Deadline: March 8, 2018)

We invite applications for a 50% part time Lecturer position in the Department of Wood Science, Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia. The Faculty of Forestry teaches programs and conducts research in Wood Products Processing, Natural Resources Conservation, Forest Resources Management, Forest Science and Urban Forestry.

Position details

The lecturer will be involved in the teaching of Wood Products Processing Program courses and contribute to the development of new courses. The successful candidate will participate in our international teaching program that include six weeks per year teaching in non-Canadian venues. The successful candidate is also expected to take an active role in industry extension instruction activities of the Centre of Advanced Wood Processing.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and a post-graduate degree in a Wood Products Processing related area are essential. Candidates should have expertise in Wood Machining Manufacturing processes (theoretical and practical), computer aided machinery, and secondary wood products design and manufacturing. Demonstrated ability to interact with students, faculty members and other stakeholders in a multicultural context will be an asset.

The appointment is expected to start March 16, 2018 for one year with the possibility of renewal. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. All appointments are subject to budgetary approval.
